Magic Bars, Baby

I have had this post ready to go for a while, except I forgot to take a picture of the finished product--OOPS! Let that be proof of how delicious this is. A lot of people grew up eating these, but I didn't. I just discovered them this year. They are a delicious comfort food, whether you grew up with them, or are just now discovering the magic of these little wonders. When I bring them to work, they are gone before the day is over, I have found people literally scraping and licking the pan. It was very unsightly.

I crushed a package and a half of graham crackers,
you can also buy graham cracker crumbs

1/2 cup of melted butter aka one stick

mmmmmm butter

put some of this in your ice cream one day, its heaven.

Press the mixture into the pan

I have an obsession with butterscotch.

semi-sweet chocolate chips

mix ingredients

add to the pan

drizzle the condensed milk

lightly spread the milk over the ingredients

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. So Easy, yet delicious. Even if you hate coconut I beg you to try this.

1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup butter, melted (1 stick)
1 (14 oz.) can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
1 cup chopped nuts (I use pecans)

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray 13 x 9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.

Combine graham cracker crumbs and butter in small bowl. Press into bottom of prepared pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Layer evenly with chocolate chips, coconut and nuts. Press down firmly with fork.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Loosen from sides of pan while still warm; cool on wire rack. Cut into bars or diamonds.

For perfectly cut cookie bars, line entire pan with foil, extending foil over edge of pan. Coat lightly with no-stick cooking spray. After bars have baked and cooled, lift up with edges of foil to remove from pan. Cut into individual bars.
